Information
Technology is becoming increasingly important in the
management of port operations. The Gambia Ports Authority,
fully aware of this fact, has developed a suite of
powerful modular port operations applications called POpS
for Windows, using in-house expertise.
These applications have been designed to meet the
management information needs and operational control
requirements of a modern seaport.
Each module of this system caters to more than 1000
users simultaneously.
POpS has been developed to run on industry standard
personal computers either as a stand-alone system or
networked.
It will comfortably work on WAN or a dial-up network
thus allowing external users such as shipping agents,
customs and other port users access to information.
